Samsung has long been a pioneer in display technologies. Over the past few decades, the company has built a strong reputation through innovations such as OLED, QLED, and QD-OLED displays. Early last year, Samsung showcased its Color ePaper display, a breakthrough technology that consumes almost no power. Now, the company is preparing to bring its 20-inch version to Europe.

The South Korean firm announced today that it will showcase a 20-inch Color ePaper display for the first time. The digital signage display, which matches the standard A3 paper size (297 x 420 mm), will be shown at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026 expo next week at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain. ISE is Europe’s largest commercial display exhibition.

The Color ePaper display consumes just 0.005 W of power when showing static images. Because it uses virtually no power and includes a built-in battery, it can last up to 200 days on a single charge when the displayed image is changed once per day.

It offers a paper-like appearance with expressive colors and smooth gradations. It features built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a USB Type-C port.

Users can control it using the Samsung E-Paper app, which is available on Android and iOS devices. It can also be managed through Samsung VXT, a cloud-based platform that enables remote content creation and display management. These features make the Color ePaper display well suited for retail stores, indoor advertising, and even classrooms.

Samsung has already launched the Color ePaper display in four other sizes:

  • 13-inch with a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels
  • 25-inch with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,800 pixels
  • 32-inch with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels
  • 75-inch with a resolution of 5,120 x 2,880 pixels

Unfortunately, general consumers can't buy this display. It would great if Samsung brings it for consumers, as it would be ideal to use it as a digital photo frames in homes.

Kim Hyung-jae, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business Division, said, “In order to minimize our impact on the environment, we developed a bio-resin based on phytoplankton and applied it to our products for the first time in the industry. We will take the lead in developing new markets through technological innovations, such as the development of new materials and the new Color ePaper product that can replace paper.
