With the One UI 7 launch out of the way, the attention has understandably shifted to One UI 8. We've exclusively revealed that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 with One UI 8 on board, with the firmware then making its way to eligible devices soon after that.
Test builds of One UI 8 have already become available. We've tested One UI 8 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 6, and others have too. That's led to some discoveries about what to expect from One UI 8.
A report indicates that Samsung is building a new AI tool that it will introduce with One UI 8. This tool will use AI to summarize videos by processing speed, video, and captions. A summary of the video will then be presented to the user after the multi-modal AI model does its magic to list the salient points of the video.
This is hardly an ingenious feature as iterations of this exist in third-party browsers already. YouTube itself provides AI summaries for videos so it's just a natural progression for Galaxy AI to have this functionality. This tool will reportedly work for videos on any website, not just YouTube, thereby expanding the usability potential.
One UI 8 is also set to bring redesigns for key Samsung apps including the browser and weather, improved parental controls, and also bring Android 16 to eligible devices. Samsung hasn't given any indication as to when One UI 8 may be launched, but it's evident that the launch may happen at some point in the second half of this year.
