Samsung recently launched the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series in select markets. The company is also working on the firmware for several other devices, some of which may be added to the beta program later.
There wasn't any Galaxy M series phone on the number of devices for which One UI 8.5 development has been confirmed so far. That changes today.
A Galaxy M54 has been spotted running a One UI 8.5 test build. This all but confirms that the next major update is now in the pipeline for this affordable lineup of devices by Samsung.
According to a post on X, this test build has already been spotted in several regions, including but not limited to the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and others. The Galaxy M lineup is typically limited to these markets and doesn't see a much wider release, particularly not in markets across North America.
Samsung will gradually have more test builds on the server for this and other Galaxy M devices. That's not to say we'll see the stable One UI 8.5 update bring released for these devices in the very near future.
One UI 8.5 will probably not arrive for existing devices until the Galaxy S26 series is released by March next year. Even after that, the existing flagship phones will be first in line to receive it. Devices from the Galaxy M series often tend to be quite a way down the line.
