Samsung's rumored Galaxy Z Wide Fold is shaping up to be the company's most exciting launch of 2026. It will finally bring a wider aspect ratio to Samsung's book-style foldable. While the leaks have been few and far between, we're getting a steady drip now.
Several of these leaks are emerging from Samsung's leaked One UI 9 builds, so they carry a lot of weight. The latest include new animations that further shed light on what the aspect ratio may be.
We found some images in One UI 9 firmware last week which hinted at the Galaxy Z Wide Fold's aspect ratio being 4:3. This would enable the device to offer a wider viewing area compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7's roughly 3.33:3 aspect ratio.
AndroidAuthority has dug into the leaked firmware and found an animation that shows cover screen mirroring on the device. The more rectangular aspect ratio is also represented in the additional images found in the firmware. It's very evident that this will offer a very different viewing experience on the foldable display compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 that will launch alongside it.
No true images of the device have surfaced yet, even though we've seen some CAD renders of the device that also hinted at a similar aspect ratio. There's enough circumstantial evidence now to show that the Galaxy Z Wide Fold will offer a viewing experience that feels much more natural to the book-style form factor.
Samsung hasn't confirmed anything officially about the device and it likely won't until it's time to unveil them. That's expected to happen at some point in the second half of this year.
