New Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 leak reveals something unexpected

In February 2026, a Samsung device carrying the model number SM-L716 was spotted in the IMEI database. Based on Samsung’s model number and naming conventions, it was widely believed to be the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The “6” in the model number also suggested that the device would offer 5G connectivity, as Samsung typically uses “0” for Wi-Fi-only models, “5” for 4G/LTE variants, and “6” for 5G models.

Now, a firmware build for a device with the model number SM-L715F has been spotted on Samsung’s servers (via Galaxy Club). Going by Samsung’s naming conventions and its numbering system for connectivity variants, this appears to be the 4G/LTE version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

This suggests that Samsung may launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in both 5G and 4G/LTE variants. According to Galaxy Club, the 5G model could be limited to Samsung’s home market, South Korea, and the United States, while the 4G/LTE version is expected to be sold in the rest of the world.

Recently, Qualcomm revealed that Samsung’s next smartwatch, which is expected to be the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, will use its Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset. Beyond that, not much is known about the brand’s upcoming flagship smartwatch. The company is expected to unveil it in July this year alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
