Google Photos already offers a plethora of tools for editing photos and videos. Now, Google is upgrading the platform with even more video editing and creation features that will make you less dependent on other apps to edit videos.
Google has announced five new video editing and creation features for Android: A redesigned video editor, an option to edit videos while viewing them, the ability to create highlight videos, and the ability to add music and text overlay.
Google has redesigned the video editor with new UI elements and a reorganised layout, which makes it easier and faster to use. Along with that, it now offers a universal timeline that supports multi-clip editing and an adaptive canvas.
Google Photos now lets you add sound clips and text overlay to videos. You can select an audio clip that's on your device or choose from a wide range of tracks available in the video editor.
These are the basic tools for editing videos to post on social media nowadays. As these tools were not available in Google Photos, people used to head to Instagram or Snapchat to edit videos.
Want to create a short video of a few photos and videos? Well, Google Photos can automatically do that for you.
Head to the Create tab and opt for Highlight Video. Now, select a template as well as the photos and videos you want to make a video with. Google Photos will now make a short video highlighting the best moments from the memories you selected. It will also add a soundtrack to go with it. You can then edit the video further, including changing the soundtrack.
