This is as barren as a major OS upgrade can get.

April has been exciting for us here at SamMobile, as we managed to get our hands on One UI 8 firmware for several devices and got to test it way ahead of its official release. But as we dug into the next major One UI and Android upgrade for Galaxy devices, it didn't take long for our excitement to turn into dismay.
The reason is simple: One UI 8 (Android 16) is extremely bare bones right now. The list of new features is so short that when the update starts rolling out to customers, Samsung could just skip mentioning any of them in the changelog.
After the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we got our hands on One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and once again, we found the experience barren. The Galaxy S25 Ultra and Z Fold 6 don't even have the Now Bar functionality working, which indicates that there is a long way to go before Samsung finishes development of One UI 8.
SamMobile has been told that the official One UI 8 update could be released within the next three months, but the current status of One UI 8 suggests that the company may need more time to get the ball rolling.
In any case, check out some screenshots from One UI 8 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 below.
