Galaxy Z Flip 6's Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update spotted!

Samsung started rolling out Android 15-based One UI 7.0 to eligible Galaxy phones and tablets much later than it should have. However, the brand has suggested that it won’t make the same mistake with Android 16-based One UI 8.0, and the company seems to be on track to keep that promise. In the last few weeks, we spotted Samsung’s firmware for Galaxy devices with the new version of the OS on its servers and the tech giant benchmarking upcoming devices with it. However, we didn’t get to see it live on any device. Well, that’s changing today. Sort of.

On X, @Alfaturk16 has posted an image and a video showing that the international version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 for India has received the Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update. It carries firmware version F741BXXU2CYD7 and the April 2025 security patch and is 3,160.19MB in size. The change log doesn’t mean anything interesting, but we expect to offer many new features. It seems like an early build of One UI 8 that Samsung is rolling out to internal developers to test the waters. Considering this, we think Samsung may roll out the upcoming update on time.

We expect developers to reveal what Android 16-based One UI 8 offers very soon, and we are very excited about it. Samsung is expected to debut its stable version with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July.

The brand may start rolling out the update to older devices soon after that. That means you can expect to see Samsung starting to roll out One UI 8 within three months, and that is if it doesn’t repeat the same mistake with it as it did with One UI 7.
