The Galaxy S26 lineup was expected to bring a major change. Initially, Samsung was rumoured to replace the Galaxy S26+ with the Galaxy S26 Edge. However, a new report suggests that the company is reconsidering this decision and may instead revive the Galaxy S26+.

Galaxy S26+ could come back from the dead

There could be some good news for Galaxy S Plus fans, as a new report from TheElec claims that Samsung has restarted the development of the Galaxy S26+ after looking at below-par sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge. The device is reportedly called M Plus internally, and it could launch alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro (M1), Galaxy S26 Edge (M2), and Galaxy S26 Ultra (M3) early next year.

Since the Galaxy S25 Edge was launched a few months after the rest of the phones in the Galaxy S25 series, it took Samsung some time to assess its success. And after looking at its sales figures, the company has reportedly decided to keep the Plus model in the lineup.

Apparently, Samsung planned to assemble 500,000 units of the Galaxy S25+ and 300,000 units of the Galaxy S25 Edge in the September-December quarter. So, the demand for the Galaxy S25+ seems to be higher than that for the Galaxy S25 Edge. In comparison, the company reportedly planned to manufacture 2.9 million units of the Galaxy S25 and 3.4 million units of the Galaxy S25 Ultra during the same period.

The total shipment for the Galaxy S25 (13.6 million units), Galaxy S25+ (6.7 million units), and Galaxy S25 Ultra (17.4 million units) is set at 37.7 million units. Even if the Galaxy S26 Edge fails to sell a million units less than the Galaxy S25+, it would be a huge loss for Samsung, so it reportedly doesn't want to take any risks.

Hence, it is reportedly thinking of launching four models in the Galaxy S26 series, just like the Galaxy S25 series has this year. So, if you are a fan of Galaxy S+ models, you could get lucky with the Galaxy S26+. It remains to be seen what camera specs it features, as that could be the key to its success.
