Samsung and Google have worked closely on Gemini AI's integration on Galaxy devices. The two companies are now collaborating on the next chapter of Android, one where AI is integrated in every layer of the operating system.

Google showed off a glimpse of what the future holds at Samsung's Unpacked event today. It confirmed that an early preview of Gemini's Agentic AI capabilities is coming to the Galaxy S26 series.

Agentic AI is the next frontier, whereby AI actually performs tasks for you. Google showcased what this would mean for mobile with an example that demonstrated how Gemini can accomplish tasks on the phone without requiring the user's constant input. The way Gemini does this is by launching the app within a virtual environment on the device.

In the example shown, the user asks Gemini to go through a group chat where different suggestions for a dinner order were made. It analyzes them all, launches a food delivery app, navigates to the relevant app, and places the order.

All of this happens in the background so the user can continue to use their device for other tasks, or if they so desire, they can observe what Gemini is doing and jump in where necessary.

Google has said that this feature is only being released as an early preview to the Galaxy S26 series. It works with a select group of apps for now, enabling users to do everything from ordering groceries or food through the likes of GrubHub and get a rider through Uber, etc. Support for additional apps will be added in the future.
