Qualcomm has unveiled its next flagship smartphone chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The company mentioned that Samsung will also use the new chip in its phones, hinting that it will be used in its future high-end phones. Qualcomm also gave a special place to the Galaxy S25 Ultra during its event.
Parts of the Snapdragon Summit 2025 event were streamed live using a phone powered by a Snapdragon chip. Those were mostly moving shots. CNET reporter David Lumb, who was present at the event, spotted the livestream being captured by a Galaxy S25 Ultra.
They managed to capture a shot of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which appears to be mounted on the DJI Ronin 2 gimbal, and the gimbal was attached to a long boom arm. Looking at the image, it appears that an external display (camera monitor) was attached to the phone via its USB-C port, and the display was mounted on the boom arm.
Shooting phone launch events on those exact phones isn't something new. In the past, Apple and Samsung have livestreamed multiple events with their respective flagship smartphones to showcase their camera capabilities and performance.
Qualcomm choosing the Galaxy S25 Ultra is something special, though, as it isn't the only phone with a Snapdragon chip. The company's chips are used by almost all Android smartphone brands. So, its decision to choose the Galaxy S25 Ultra speaks volumes about the phone's camera quality and reliability, as well as Qualcomm's close partnership with Samsung.
