All of Samsung's flagship devices and many of its mid-range phones now receive seven years of Android OS upgrades. This is the standard that the company has now set for itself and it's been sticking to it diligently.
Even though the Galaxy S25 FE is part of the same family that was first launched earlier this year, there's a reason why it ends up getting one extra software upgrade over the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung ships the Galaxy S25 FE with One UI 8 Android 16 out of the box. This means that the device is supported until Android 23 and the equivalent One UI version by that point in time. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 were the first devices to come with One UI 8 straight from the factory.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Ultra came with One UI 7 Android 15 because Samsung hadn't unveiled One UI 8 by then. Its seven years of Android OS upgrades will run out by Android 22, so you get that extra bit of longevity when buying Samsung's new flagship-adjacent phone.
The entire Galaxy S25 series hasn't received the stable One UI 8 update as yet. Samsung will start rolling it out at some point this month. It will understandably be among the first to get the stable version of its latest software update.
Samsung has made the Galaxy S25 FE available for sale starting today in select markets in Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy, and White colors.
