Last week, Samsung announced the June 2025 security patch, which fixes dozens of security issues. Initially, the company offered it to its latest non-foldable flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S25 series, and then to the Galaxy A56. Now, the brand is rolling out the latest security update to its more affordable siblings, the Galaxy A26.
According to Galaxy Club, Samsung is offering the update to the Galaxy A26 variant that it sells globally, carrying model number SM-A266B, in Europe. The update's build number is A266BXXU3AYE6.
Samsung is also rolling out a new update to the Galaxy A36. However, for some reason, the A36 is not getting the June security patch and will remain on the April patch after the update (sporting the build number A366BXXU2AYE3) is installed.
To update your Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A26, open Settings, scroll down until you find Software updates, tap on it, and select Download and Install. The phone will check if there is a software update available, and if it finds one, the device will notify you about it.
The phone will now download the software and prepare it for installation. If you own a Galaxy A36, it will install the update in the background and you can continue to perform other tasks on the phone in the meantime. The Galaxy A26 will restart to install the update, as it doesn't support seamless updates.
You can then download Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26 firmware from our firmware database and install it manually on your devices using Samsung's Odin tool. Speaking of software updates, Samsung’s One UI 8 (Android 16) is coming soon to the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A26.
