Samsung is expected to launch at least two new smartwatches later this year. And the first signs of those upcoming Galaxy Watches have appeared. The company could name them the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
The batteries of Samsung's unannounced devices with model numbers EB-BL330ABY and EB-BL505ABY have been spotted (via XpertPick) in SafetyKorea's database. These batteries are associated with devices bearing model numbers SM-L330 and SM-L505, likely Galaxy Watches.
SafetyKorea tests and certifies electronic devices for safety and other forms of compliance. Previous reports suggest that the variants of the Galaxy Watch 8 have model numbers SM-L320, SM-L325U, SM-L330, and SM-L335U, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic could have model numbers SM-L500 and SM-L505.
The Galaxy Watch 8's battery, model number EB-BL330ABY, was also spotted in the TUV Rheinland certification. Its typical battery capacity is 435mAh, which is slightly higher than the battery inside the Galaxy Watch 7 (425mAh).
It isn't clear if Samsung will launch a new Galaxy Watch Ultra model this year. Typically, the company launches a base Galaxy Watch and a Galaxy Watch Classic one year and a vanilla Galaxy Watch and a Galaxy Watch Pro in the next cycle. The upcoming cycle is expected to feature the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
We hope the South Korean firm brings the Exynos W1000 chip and dual-frequency GPS to its upcoming smartwatches.
