Just as we had exclusively reported earlier this month, Samsung has opened the One UI 8.0 Beta Program. The new beta update, based on Android 16, is rolling out already for the Galaxy S25 series. The beta program is currently available in South Korea, and it could be released soon in other countries where Samsung usually releases beta updates.
Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra users in South Korea have already started getting the Android 16-based One UI 8.0 beta update. The new update comes with firmware version S9x8NKSU3ZYER and has a download size of around 3.3GB for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it could vary for other models. It also includes the May 2025 security patch.
The update will also be released in Germany, the UK, and the USA. This new update doesn't bring a major UI redesign, something that One UI 7.0 introduced. It brings dozens of new and improved features, though.
To enroll One UI 8.0 eligible devices in the One UI 8.0 Beta Program, users need to download the Samsung Members app, log into the app using their Samsung Account, and tap the One UI 8.0 Beta Program banner on the home page. Once the registration is done, head over to Settings » Software update » Download and install. Once the download is complete, tap the Install now button, and the phone will then restart after a few minutes once the installation is complete.
Read our article about how to best prepare your Galaxy phone before installing the One UI 8 beta update. We will post the complete changelog of the One UI 8.0 beta update once Samsung releases it, and everyone can see what changes and improvements the company has introduced with its new One UI version.
The company will release new beta updates periodically, and once the beta-testing is done, it will release the stable One UI 8.0 update to eligible devices.
