Not enough stress in life? Enable this on your Galaxy phone to ‘fix’ that

Reading the title above, you might be wondering why anyone would want more stress in their lives and why enabling a feature on their Galaxy smartphones could lead to that. Well, we're exaggerating a little for comedic effect, but regardless, it is true that one of the biggest causes of anxiety among smartphone users is poor battery life. And for those who want to monitor their batteries closely, there's one option in One UI that can help – and possibly generate additional stress.

One UI-powered Galaxy smartphones and tablets come with an option that allows users to enable or disable a visual battery percentage indicator in the notification bar. In other words, you can set up One UI to show your phone's battery level icon all by itself or alongside a percentile battery indicator if you want that extra information.

How to turn the battery percentage indicator on your Galaxy device on or off

You can enable or disable the battery percentage indicator on your Samsung phone or tablet by first opening the Settings app and then navigating to “Notifications.” Next, you'll have to tap “Advanced Settings” and turn the “Show battery percentage” toggle on or off.

Now, on to the part about adding more stress to your daily life — or rather, avoiding it. In theory, a battery percentage indicator can help you gauge battery life more accurately. You should keep the battery percentage indicator enabled if you want that level of control and information from your device.

On the other hand, many people found that, sometimes, keeping a close eye on your battery percentages all throughout the day can lead to even more stress instead of a sense of control over the situation.

The reality is that you probably won't change your usage patterns too much (or in overly beneficial ways) based on whether or not the battery percentage indicator is on or off. More so, the indicator could have the opposite effect by catching your attention too often and adding more stress to your battery anxiety.

Sometimes, less can be more. And technically speaking, you don't really have to watch every single battery percentage drop in order to conserve battery life. The percentage indicator itself won't magically make your phone last longer on a single charge.

It's up to you to improve battery life on a single charge by managing your usage patterns. The battery percentage indicator could help you do that better, or it could serve only to stress you out. If that's the case, you should try disabling the percentage indicator and see how life feels without it.

And if you really want more detailed information about the way you use your phone, you're probably better off checking out the Device Care and Digital Wellbeing sections inside the Settings app.

How do you prefer to use your Galaxy smartphone or tablet? Do you keep the battery percentage indicator off or on at all times? Do you find it useful, or just another distraction? Let us know in the comment section below.
