Galaxy S8 pre-orders outperform the Galaxy S7 by quite a margin in South Korea

Analysts expect that the Galaxy S8 is going to outperform the Galaxy S7 and even Samsung is holding on to that expectation. We're now seeing numbers to back up the assumption. According to a new report, the Galaxy S8 pre-orders have crossed a total of 550,000 units ever since pre-orders were opened in South Korea on April 7.

The number of pre-orders made for the Galaxy S8 in just two days surpasses the record high number of 400,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 7 last year. The Galaxy S8's pre-order volume for the first two days is said to be 5.5 times more than that of its predecessor.

There's significant demand for the Galaxy S8 and it's surely not going to subside anytime soon. Samsung is due to release the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in several markets across the globe on April 21 after will the handset is going to gradually make its way to additional markets.

The Galaxy S8 is definitely just what the doctor ordered for Samsung. The handset is likely to drive the company's operating profit to a record high in the second quarter of this year.
