Samsung Display is believed to have finished making prototypes of photomasks for displays and even started production on a small scale. Photomasks are required in the designing of circuits during the production of displays and semiconductors, it's produced by carving a clean disk with electronic circuits after putting it into a stepper. It's only when light is penetrated through the photomask that's placed on top of a display board or semiconductor wafer that the pattern of electronic circuits is formed. Having the ability to mass produce your own photomasks gives a company like Samsung Display the ability to optimize technologies on photomasks and related processes.
