In May, Harman, a Samsung subsidiary, announced that it was going to acquire Masimo Corporation’s audio division, Sound United, whose portfolio has eight iconic audio brands: Boston Acoustics, Bowers & Wilkins, Classé, Definitive Technology, Denon, HEOS, Marantz, and Polk Audio.
Well, Harman has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Sound United. With that, Samsung now owns 21 audio brands, with the other 13 being AKG, Arcam, Crown, DBX, Flux, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Martin, Revel, and Soundcraft.
With 21 audio brands in its portfolio, Samsung is now one of the biggest players in the audio industry. With that, it may be able to dominate the audio market. Plus, the brand can use audio technologies from these companies for its products, including Galaxy phones, tablets, laptops, earbuds, TVs, party speakers, bookshelf speakers, and soundbars. Samsung has also shared a video showing products from Sound United's brands and how they will make Harman “Audio Industry's New Powerhouse.” You can check out the video below.
Commenting on completing the acquisition of Sound United, Harman’s President for Lifestyle Division, Dave Rogers, said, “HARMAN’s vision is to create experiences that enrich people’s lives through exceptional audio experiences. Sound United’s impressive roster of brands is rooted in a deep passion for sound, innovation, and commitment to quality that aligns with HARMAN’s own values. This transaction unlocks meaningful growth opportunities for everyone. It bolsters HARMAN’s strategy to build on its unparalleled success story and scale to unprecedented heights as an audio leader.”
