Samsung is working on making lengthy notifications easier to digest with the help of AI.

A new One UI 8.5 firmware has made its way online for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and it gives us our first proper look at the rumored Galaxy AI-powered notification summary feature. Well, perhaps “proper” isn't the right word: while the notification summary feature has been added, it doesn't currently work.
Still, this is the clearest confirmation yet that Samsung is working on making lengthy notifications easier to digest with the help of AI. The first time you pull down the notification panel in One UI 8.5, you’re greeted with a pop-up that explains the feature.
As mentioned, the feature isn’t functional yet. In the settings menu, there’s an option to choose which apps should be excluded from notification summaries, but for now, every installed app is listed by default, and there's no option to remove them.
Like many other AI features in One UI, notification summaries will rely on Google's AI model (most likely on-device Gemini Nano), as the screenshot says the information won't be sent to Google's servers. The feature should work reliably once the official One UI 8.5 update rolls out and the feature is fully functional.
Stay tuned for more information on this, and check out the video below to see what else is coming with Samsung's next One UI update.
