Samsung Electronics today announced two new mobile component solutions which will meet the rapidly evolving requirements of the mobile industry. The company has unveiled an 8 megapixel RWB (Red-White-Blue) image sensor that's based on the ISOCELL technology as well as an integrated circuit NFC solution that brings improved Radio Frequency performance. The 8 megapixel ISOCELL RWB CMOS image sensor from Samsung, S5K4H5YB, is a great solution for front-facing cameras as the new sensor uses ISOCELL and the company's new color pattern filter to maximize the quality of images. OEMs can obtain samples of the new image sensor from Samsung right away while the company expects mass production to begin in the second quarter of this year.
Samsung's fourth-generation NFC solution, S3FWRN5P, brings improved RD performance and the company promises an increase of nearly 100 percent as compared to its predecessor in card mode and 20 percent in reader mode. The IC operates with one of the smallest antennas available in the market and can be attached to a smartphone's battery. Samsung is already mass producing its fourth-gen NFC IC.
