Samsung appears to be building a very useful feature for the One UI 9 Samsung Internet browser which will help you save some money while you're shopping.
References to a new “Smart shopping” feature have been discovered in a new browser version that's part of the leaked One UI 9 firmware.
AndroidAuthority highlights the Smart shopping feature discovered in Samsung Internet browser v30.0.0.39 that's part of the leaked One UI 9 build. This build has also revealed information about several other new features that are in development.
Code strings in the app show that this feature will automatically search for discount codes and enable you to apply them at checkout with just one tap. Coupon eligibility will depend on various factors, such as the website, basket contents, IP address, region, and more.
It also mentions that “retail and commerce websites” will be a part of this service. This suggests that brands may have to opt-in for this service, which many will be happy to do, seeing as how Samsung Internet is widely used on the top Android device brand.
This feature may not be enabled by default, though, as the Settings page screenshot highlights that there will be a toggle that users will have to manually enable.
Even though this feature is being built with the browser version for One UI 9, it's highly likely that we may see it arrive for One UI 8.5 and other versions, since Samsung only has to release a new app update to make it live. In theory, it could arrive even before One UI 9 is released.
