Why move on from the Galaxy A05?

The Galaxy A05 has officially hit the end of the road in terms of major updates. It launched with Android 13, got Android 15 and One UI 7, and that’s it.

Two promised OS upgrades are done, so if you want fresher software, it’s time to upgrade.

7+ reasons the Galaxy A07 is a solid step up

Reason #1: Six OS upgrades planned

The Galaxy A07 isn’t just another cheap phone — it’s the first in the A0x lineup to promise up to six major Android updates. Shipping with Android 15 and One UI 8, it could eventually reach Android 21.

Reason #2: 5G connectivity

The Galaxy A07 is Samsung’s cheapest 5G phone. Expect faster downloads, lower latency, and more reliable connections. Battery-conscious? You can always switch back to LTE.

Reason #3: Bigger battery

Samsung bumped the battery from 5,000mAh on the A05 to 6,000mAh on the A07. Charging speed stays at 25W wired, but that extra juice means longer life between plugs.

And because the phone is supported for six years, that battery should help the phone's longevity.

Reason #4: Brighter screen

The A07’s PLS LCD hits 650 nits (typical), or about 200 nits brighter than the A05. Not a night-and-day difference, but enough to make sunny days more bearable.

Reason #5: More power and storage

Goodbye Helio G85, hello Dimensity 6300. The A07’s chip is faster, more efficient, and paired with 128GB storage as standard. That’s four times more than the A05’s base. The 2023 model debuted with only 32GB (minimum).

Reason #6: Fingerprint scanner

The Galaxy A05 had none. The A07 adds a side-mounted capacitive scanner. These scanners are usually fast and reliable, often more so than in-display solutions.

A fingerprint scanner improves privacy and security and can potentially unlock new options for mobile banking.

Reason #7: Improved build with splash resistance

The A07 is IP54 rated. Not waterproof, but resistant to splashes from any angle. It's a nice upgrade over the A05’s bare-bones durability.

    Should you upgrade?

In markets where it sells for around $140, the Galaxy A07 5G is hard to ignore. More power, longer software support, better security, 5G, and a few quality-of-life perks make it a fairly easy recommendation for A05 users ready to move on.
