10 other workers were injured, and according to the police, the 1,300-ton water tank was being tested for the third consecutive day to detect any cracks or defects. The test was part of the venture between Samsung Fine Chemical and MEMC of the U.S., which had Samsung Engineering building the tank at the site. The steel tank failed to handle the load after around 1,000 tons of water was poured into it, according to investigators.
This kind of accident really puts things into perspective, as things like faking benchmarks and offering zero warranty on water damage to a water-resistant device feel minuscule compared to the brevity of what those workers had to go through. We hope the injured get through a speedy recovery, and that the families and relatives of the deceased can find peace during this emotionally troubling time.
