The only reason for me to by the S4 is the Exynos 5 Octa SoC… So, if only the Snapdragon version is available, the S4 is nothing special and I think the HTC One is definitely THE ONE to buy!

Hu? Your logic does not make sens. You would rather buy a HCT one that scores 2687 on Geekbench 2 scores because the 3163 of the S4 snapdragon is what? to high?

didn´t they say it to s3 too???

they said, there will be no S3 LTE for Germany and month later they decided to sell it.
it´s to expensive for the most people to use LTE in germany. So i think they will loose more than 60% of interested clients, cause the s3 is a very good device and there is no reason to buy the same cpu like HTC one.
i know it´s a hope by the providers Vodafone and Telecom that users change to the absolutely expensive LTE but when they see, nobody is buying, they will be sell the octa version soon later!!! i can´t believe it…

In reality, less than 1% of S4 users will actually care about which processor is inside the S4. Samsung don’t even advertise which one they use. It’s all about software now.

dissapointment here we go, in many European countries Snapdragon will be for many many techfans dissapointment if it will be only choice, why awesome neighbours could decide as free humans, other ones are just doomed thanks to miraculous decisions of supervise marketing and development team decision in Samsung HQ, so many thanks, we can decide as well which processor is for us better, Octa is anyhow better choice, so pls do not force well develped Europe people to be forced to buy only 1 kind, because you want like this. No thanks for me this way…

Good question, My guess is that the Cortex-A15 Cores will out run the Snapdragon 4 Cores. But it is going to drain your battery like bugatti veyron. That is why they have to add 4 x Cortex-A7 cores. SO that it can sip when you just flip the screen.

Personally I think the Snapdragon is a better design. That is why Samsung is shipping it and not there own unit.

What I would like to know is why did they go for the 600 and not the Snapdragon 800. The nexus 5 will have it I am sure.

Does it matter? You can always get an unlocked version on eBay…. Buying directly from your service provider is just stupid. Well, unless you’re cheap and on a committed plan and just extending your contract to get a discounted phone. I’m guessing most people will go that route?

The only reason for me is, that there must be a problem with the exynos 5 octa.
Because in the relevant markets they’re going to sell the snapdragon variant.
I think asia and africa are kind of testers for the octa. And i don not want to be a tester ;) so in my opinion it is good that samsung is going to sell the snapdragon here.

No mate, nobody is hamster here, Samsung will not do this with their customers as they will know their reputation will be affected if clients will have issues.
It’s just because Samsung can’t mass manufacture the Octa and they know what happened with Nexus 4, for example. The stock is affecting the sales, because many of people will say: “Damn, my contract finish soon and Samsung have no stock for S4. Okay, I will buy HTC (or worst iPhone).” So rather their sell Snapdragon version and leave us, who like to buy unlocked devices, to get the Octa.

But if they really have production problems they could only produce the S600 Version. And no Exynos 5 octa.
This would be cheaper and only one version would exist.
In my opinion samsung wants to test if there are any problems with the octa in normal use. Probably for the international Note 3 or if the Big.LITTLE architecture is good. And who is a better tester than normal people?
Im pretty sure that this is the cause. I do not think, that there are big issues, but samsung wants to test, if the octa is ready for the big markets. So they use the small markets (africa) and sell it there and look for the feedback. That´s why i call these countries “testers”.

This only tells me that the Exynos 5 is trailing behind from the start (due to the 4G modem not being integrated in the chip). I don’t think the number of Exynos chips Samsung is able to produce is the key factor here.

Why not make a Snapdragon 600 model only for all countries? Less costs for Sammy for producing 2 different models, less hassle in developing new ROMS, etc etc

I am pretty sure Latin America will get the Octa. There is no 4G network deployed, just a couple of blocks in some cities to test it. Don’t see 4G coming to Latin America for a couple of years so the Octa will be the S4 to Latin America.

Switzerland will not get the Octa Core, while countries like Uzbekistan and Liberia where they barely can buy a fucking leaf of bread will get it.
