According to the company, Galaxy Gear will work as a “sub-brand” similar to what we have for Android devices with the Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets.

Samsung recently released the pricing of the Galaxy Gear and it won’t go for cheap. Expected price is at $299.99 in US, which means it will be priced similarly in other markets as well.

  1. I think that Samsung made this not-so-revolutionary smartwarch to be sure to make it before Apple. What i think (and hope) is that they will release a Galaxy Gear like the one in the patent when they have the technology ready (flexible display and battery) and that will be a game changer…

  2. Price is main factor. Until the tech is matured (regarding flexible display), I don’t see it gaining mass production status. People tend to forget that display is bendable, but what about batteries or circuit? WHo will bend them?

It’s still a niche/infant market. Wait for 2-3 years for it to stabilize.
