Samsung confirms Android Marshmallow update for Galaxy Tab A is in the works

The Galaxy Tab A, which was announced almost an year ago, is currently running Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop). We did report six months back that the Galaxy Tab A could receive the Android 6.0 update, but there was no official confirmation about it. However, Samsung has now revealed that it does plan to release Android 6.0 update for its mid-range tablet offering.

Samsung UK’s support centre has mentioned through Twitter to one of our regular readers that Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Tab A is under development. However, the company did not reveal any information regarding the update’s release time frame. It’s a good news for Galaxy Tab A owners, and gives them a reason to hold on to their tablet. Do you think Samsung’s update policy is improving?

Thanks for the tip, Sanay!

Tab A really should begin with the tab s2 because it’s a high end tablet. It doesn’t make sense to give a midrange tablet first the latest version of Android.

Both Tab S2 and Tab A Marshmallow updates are in-development.

All humans should be treated equally so Tablets and smart phones as well so it will get around same time both tablets

So my £449 Tab Pro remains about the only Samsung tablet in existence that never got a single Android update, even budget tablets get at least one.

Good for the owners I guess.

And what about Tab s 10.5?

Their update policy is slightly improved but if you just say “When a particular device is getting marshmallow” they dont say it. You have to write like the way above and then they reveal some information and break their silence.
