EXCLUSIVE: Galaxy S5 mini (SM-G800) specs leaked
We exclusively confirmed that the Galaxy S5 mini would be launching after the Galaxy S5 (not that we needed that confirmation, given Samsung’s penchant for launching successors to both their successful and not-so-successful devices), and now we’ve got exclusive information on the S5 mini’s specs thanks to our insiders. Sporting model number SM-G800, the Galaxy S5 mini will feature a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 720p resolution, an upgrade over the disappointing qHD resolution on the Galaxy S4 mini. It will run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box like every device coming out after March, and will be powered by a Snapdragon processor – we weren’t told which chipset it would, though it will likely be a quad-core Snapdragon 400.
Other specs of the Galaxy S5 mini will include an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB storage, an IR blaster, and a 2,100 mAh battery, most of which are similar to the specs of the Galaxy S4 mini. We expect it to be water-resistant through IP67 certification like the Galaxy S5, though there’s no info on whether it will sport a heart rate and fingerprint sensor – it most likely won’t have either of those, given the mid-range underpinnings of Samsung’s mini Galaxy lineup.
Pricing and release date remain a mystery, though previous information puts the launch sometime in June. We’ll be sure to let you know as we find out more, so do check back with us for all the breaking news on the Galaxy S5 mini.
