Galaxy S III receives Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update, Lots of new features
Samsung releases Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S III GT-I9300
Samsung has just started to push Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update to the International Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300. The Galaxy S III is Samsung’s flagship device of the year and is also it’s biggest worldwide selling device. Samsung has given the Galaxy S III top priority in Software Updates that’s why Samsung keeps on updating this device to the latest versions of Android.
You might not be able to update your device to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean right away as the update is rolling out in phases. So, it might not yet be available for your country or network provider (If Your device is Carrier branded) but don’t worry the update will arrive soon.
Samsung has added a ton of new features in Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S III, most of the features are brought from the Galaxy Note II. We have listed some of the enhancements in the new Android 4.1.2 update below.

Guys i dont understand you….would you be happier if samsung released JB for S2 month or two earlier and with old UI, think about it, you will get newest UI which is so unlikely from samsung to upgrade old phones to newest UI + i havent seen anyone (except google nexus) to upgrade their 2011 flagships to 4.1 yet + im just soooo tired, each and every topic has XY of useless posts about upgrading Note and S2 to 4.1, they will get updates…eventually, just patience

@qqers: how can it be that you are soo stupid that you post here, go and spam samsungs facebook or send them mails, Sammobile DOESNT make firmwares, they just provide them, Sammobile ISNT official samsungs page, it is just FANSITE, so sammobile cannot do A SHIT about older devices upgrades instead of WAITING and PROVIDING flashable firmware once it gets released

Samsung need to know the updates is very important for all devices (and for old to) and how much fast puts new updated is better.
Because this days people when decide to buy a android smart phone, they not look just phone specification but they also look which company puts new updates faster, which company is better to support devices better.
Because OS is very important for a smartphone Android is very important for us, who using.
You can see this days what happen with Nexus 4, everyone want to buy a Nexus phone because all know they gone get all updates first. This is a key point for success.

I’ve installed the firmware XXELK4 can I replace it to this new (XXELKC) by the same way as I did via odin? This pre rom XXELK4 have some issues, the GPS conection fails every time when I need it. Thank you for your help.

Not much difference between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 Jelly Bang, only 4.2.1 has some security improvements. All poor Samsung users have to wait 2 Month and more for 4.2.1

What’s The difference between Argentina ARO y Argentina ANC? I’ve flashed my phone with Argentina ARO and Messaging App Crash. No update via OTA and Don’t get recognized by Kies, so I returned to opriginal Argentina PTS (Personal) and problems got away. But My cousin have an ARO and get Jelly Bean via OTA and I want that. But quietly with odin can install your firmware you want me and I tried almost all work well and now I have the 4.1.2 on staff and works very well.
The bad thing that the multi window closes and liquidates the ram will run over 600.

awesome, only found ONE bug thou.
when you are in multiview and u want to move the app out and use it the icon isnt stick and its very easy to accidently move app up and down while u move them out to use with your fingers. they need to be locked so when u press u cant move it up and down only out to use. since u can change order and everything when u press EDIT. pls fix in next

For all those moaning about “no love” for the S2… you are all obviously to dumb to figure out how this website works, and therefore, do not have the mental capacity to use Android, whatever the version, other than to make a phone call…
If you look in the firmware section you will find 4.1.2 is already available for download, and has been for a while:

Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
It does not have the features you will see in the S3, such as Multi Window or the new Gallery previews, probably due to hard ware limitations, so you all need to decide whether you need to invest in new technology or not…
If for whatever reason, you are unable to do that then “Love the phone you are with, not the one you can’t get”
Now, can we get feedback as to the functionality of this release on the S3… I am using it and so far all is smooth… Much better than the previous Israeli ROM…

Hmm.. got vanilla rom no root, no CWM no other stuff and keep getting “Access to the software update service is provided… Try later”.
I recall I got this previoslu on rooted phone and when I reflashed to vanilla rom was able to upgrade from 4.0.3 to 4.1.1. Now it seems stuck.

not pending officially I`ve downloaded today, installed, full screen gallery is working, gallery mods are for me cool 
, multiview perfect, performance better little bit, information on top of screen again in black colour – cool, no complain, just enjoying, so far stable. Keep distributing to other countries and other devices

Still no car mode. So disappointed.
Samsung cut off one of the most important feature for me. The capability to charge my phone and detect the car dock.
It works on 4.04, but since Jellybean does not work anymore!

I can understand the concern of the S2 users, but every manufacturer does the same. RIM for example also doesn’t release new updates for their old devices. Take an example of yourself, if you buy a new phone you also don’t look at your old one anymore. It’s very common.

Looks good. I hope it would be better improvement on Android side. Because currently I am little bit frustrated with the automatic timezone which is happen last week when I am travelling to another place where the timezone is GMT+8. I am staying on GMT+7 timezone. My S3 can’t update automatically. Not like my wife iPhone. I have been setup for timezone with automatic update ticked. Does anyone have the same problem with me. When I am using ICS I am not going to the place with different Time zone.

Number one, “every manufacturer do not update firmaware” – every– this is a very poor generalization. Moreover, wanting an update on firmware is not the same as discarding old unwanted phone. If this is the case we should go back to ICS and leave it as that and do not improve any firmwares further. And the reason firmware gets update is because the previous version has a flaw or bugs.

which add features improves speed batterylife stability etc.
cant say that its stable at all. its pretty frustrated when talking in the phone and the phone hangs up for no reason after 5-15 minutes. or sometimes when the battery is below 50% it starts to bootloop. or when the phone says that there are no sim card in it. or when the internal and external sd cards gets unmounted for no reason.
and these thing happens on stock rom.
so yeah DO release a firmware update SOON

i did already flash the 4.1.2 leak given earlier and it’s working perfectly [thanks sammobile]…and as i can see there is no difference between the leaked version and this version other than the word *Official* and that the leak was pre-rooted (which is great btw)…. if there is any other difference please advise me about it

I’m using this firmware (I9300XXELKC) for 5 days. I found two drawbacks.
(1) Like in leaked firmware there is keyboard crash when I’m using key left to SPACE.
(2) Strange behavior in Smart View feature. I am looking at screen, I see feature eye, but in few seconds screen is OFF.

I’m an s3 owner from Canada and the when I looked at the 4.1.1 update from Iraq I saw that they got the jelly bean update in October then me living in one of the most largest countries gets the update in December (barely). I’m moving to Iraq…

Stop mauning S2 owners, as mentioned previously by one member the official leak of Jelly Bean 4.2 has been posted. I am based in South Africa and uses official leak for more than 2 weeks now, nothing wrong with it, smooth as butter and all function are working smoothly. So thanks to SAMMOBILE. Flash it and enjoy it South Africans. But rookies stay away from flashing your S2 because they are still under warranty.

If samsung will not release faster updates , i guess i will never buy samsung phones again. I’m changing every year to have their last SGS and i have to wait like a dog for their f*cking update. Samsung wake up, everyone is pissed off everywhere. How can a phone like Galaxy S3 to lag on dialer or contacts? Even 3310 opens better contacts. Shame on you Samsung. Since release of the GS3 you couldn’t fix the f*cking lags on dialer and contacts. This is unacceptable.

I hear you dean23. As i posted earlier jelly bean update for sgs 3 made the phone worse not better. The lag is too big. 700-800 mb RAM ??? I do hope that the next update will fix this issues. I dont care about stupid new fetures.. the phone is good as is just make it bug free… is it impossible?

Your problems mostly is because you didn’t wipe cache/dalvik cache and factory reset before and after you flashed the rom. The new 4.1.2 is very very smooth. But the problem is that the dialer and contacts doesn’t open instantly as it should. Tried on stock 4.0.4 and on 4.1.2 same. And for this is no excuse , such a basic thing as opening dialer and contacts lags on their flagship smartphone? As i said its unacceptable and if $amsung doesn’t take some action this will be my last $amsung device. They become the best on market because of us who buys their phone every year and now they treat us like garbage.

Definitely the battery lasts more….split screen is great, smart rotation turn slow rotation when you don’t need it to be “smart”. Predictive text doesn’t correct wrong words, or it is still learning? I don’t know.

my friend said me: you will buy a galaxy s2?, it’s very horrible. You can buy a sony xperia phone. (he have a 2011 sony xperia phone). In august of this year I buy a galaxy s2 ( a 2011 galaxy phone). Now I know this: i will receive jelly bean in my galaxy s2 (2011) and my friend won’t receive jelly bean in his xperia phone (2011).
For that reason I think that Samsung is the best, Samsung not forget the phone which sold 10 million times in 5 months. So I wait patienly for Jelly Bean in my S2

We are still in Poland, the 8-th day after the first Android 4.1.2 was released. This is definitely too slow. Samsung could often do 10 versions at the time. The only difference among some versions are CSC defaults.

Those who are complaining should go get a life. You will get the update when Samsung releases it. If you can’t be patient then get a non-Samsung phone. No one cares. Not even Samsung. You probably represent 1% of S3 owners. Otherwise wait patiently with the remaining 99% of S3 owners (most of which are probably not even expecting an update).

downloaded unbranded 4.1.2 uk version, installed via odin works perfect. Actually finding some speed improvements over 4.1.1. Multi-view is a killer feature.

Hi everyone, this update is great. but i have a problem. the thing is that when i add a new page to my home screen in the standard mode and then try to delete it the sceen freezes for a few seconds and this “Unfortunely, TouchWiz home has stopped” pops up and i get the page back. i mean when you add a screen it virtually can’t be remoced. what should i do?

@hazharm I have been facing this touchwiz issue in 4.1.1 as well. The only workaround that I know is to move your icons from one screen to the newly added home screen and then delete the empty old screen. It works for me

Some peoples comments are ridiculous. Relax people the update is coming. Other manufacturers had only just began releasing 4.1.1 for their devices. Samsung with the exception of Nexus devices are the first to roll out 4.1.2. Heck samsung is even updating their older flagship galaxy S2. Wanna know what version of Android former 2011 flagship devices from HTC,Sony and other manufacturers have ? Gingerbread. Not even ICS 4.0

It is better releasing firmware updates annually than every six months (because that is how long it takes). This way consumers can really use the phone and do not have to wait for updates that is rushed out with bugs. Samsung and signal providers can tweak and test and test their firmware for the whole 12 months. iOS does that. They rarely contain bugs. And if their are bugs it is promptly rectified if not a hardware problems. Samsung should seriously consider their updating strategy. But Apple and Android selling pitch is different. Advertisements does not prove the practical aspect of using Android as they have boasted because consumers still waiting to utilize those said functions which was advertised for Note II and S III for example. Yesh, it roll out in phases, so this means that to have every consumers satisfied most will have to wait for more than 3 to 5 months. I would be happy to be counter argue on this cause we are waiting still. “Soon” equals to a definite known period. Does that mean 4 to 8 weeks? We are not talking about S2 yet, forget about S2, it is becoming a prehistoric dino, well by the time S4 release with 4.2 that is.

After updating my galaxy s3 to Version 4.1.2 and baseband version i9300XXELL4 my galaxy s3 battery charging takes long time and when i play games(Eternity warriors 2) device is getting heating more and battery drains fast some time even it hangs and it takes nearly 4 to 5 hrs from 30% to 100% charge. I kindly request sammobile to provide a suitable fix to solve the issue really worried after seeing this but the OS is awesome to use…

Due to the word “Samsung” to determine the release date

Just say a=1, b=2, c=3 and so on until z=26… So when 1st country receive first update next one will be 19 days later due to samsung first letter is ‘S’ that is no 19. So the next cycle is a day after cause is ‘A’, third batch is 13 days later due to ‘M’, 4th batch is ’19′ days later, follow with 21 days, 14 days.. finally 7 days.. concluded.
Batch 1 (S) = 19days
Batch 2 (A)= 19 + 1 days
Batch 3 (M)= 20+13 days
Batch 4 (S)= 33 + 19 days
Batch 5 (U)= 52 + 21 days
Batch 6 (N)= 73 + 14 days
Batch 7 (G)= 87 + 7 days….

Hi everyone, this update is great. but i have a problem. the thing is that when i add a new page to my home screen in the standard mode and then try to delete it the sceen freezes for a few seconds and this “Unfortunely, TouchWiz home has stopped” pops up and i get the page back. i mean when you add a screen it virtually can’t be removed. what should i do?

Im on t-mobile UK, yeah was on ICS 4.0.4 ..so i downloaded and flashed 4.1.2… wow was it laggy, i dunno why it was so laggy but i just wasent enjoying that experience… so flashed back to 4.0.4… pretty much a waste of time to be honest… id rather just wait, dont get me wrong..its a class update…but ive had it now, ive tasted it.. for me the best thing was the gallery, looked great…multi view is top class but i hate that lil blue thing that sticks out really annoys me…was glad i could seem the android emoticons on twitter etc…everything else i doubt id use so not to bother about them…but yeah my experience so far of 4.1.2 was not the best
