just so you guys know, the next nexus phone will be made by LG. This was probably Samsungs bid to get permission to make the next nexus. But, it looks like LG won, and Samsung have renamed the phone.

Next Nexus will probably be LG (Optimus G). There are good sides and bad sides of it.
The good: supposedly, low price (400 USD) for a high-end device ; very powerful GPU and powerful CPU + big memory ; LG device at least for once will get regular and fresh updates :D ; camera should be good (13M, but as always it’s up to tests) ; the crash tests at least SHOULD show better (much better?) ‘performance’ of the device in contrast to, especially, SGS3 ; and some more smaller ones.
The bad: supposedly only 8 GB storage memory +, get a grip, NO CARD SLOT (sic!). For me it’s unbelievable – there should be at least 16 GB without a slot or 8 GB + a slot (both are bad ideas if you ask me…) ; not one button below the screen is supposedly physical… hate those ; the battery is not big (2100 mAh), we will see how it will work out with a very powerful chipset (GPU + CPU), at least it will (or will it?) be exchangeable ; the Nexus “G” will run on pure Android, but that also means not getting all the fancy-schmancy soft from LG (like zooming in movie and such – there are several of them) ; last but not least, there will be (as rumoured) no LTE units of Nexus.
So as you see, it’s really a mixed bag. While I could live with the battery probably (IF it’s exchangeable), and probably could get USED TO (or at least get a good try at it) non-physical buttons, also would spare the LTE and LG soft modifications sacrificing it for purity of latest Android – I simply cannot resign from card slot in light of ONLY 8 GB memory. This is simply ridiculous! While memory card slot (if it WOULD be present!) would fix this a SMALL BIT, it’s not a total solution – while user can bind programs to other paths (on external SD), they work slower, especially in matter of random file access.
All in all, hard to expect me buying this version with THESE specs ; )
