Samsung’s Galaxy line to recieve ICS!
Samsung Electronics plan to provide the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for GALAXY devices. The platform update for GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note will start in the first quarter 2012, and other GALAXY devices will soon follow.
The ICS-upgradable devices are the GALAXY S II, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus. For upgradable models, Samsung will make separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirements. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung GALAXY Nexus, the first Ice Cream Sandwich powered smartphone, were first unveiled at a Google/Samsung joint news conference in Hong Kong on October 19th.
Ice Cream Sandwich brings an entirely new look and feel to Android. It has a redesigned user interface with improved multi-tasking, notifications, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC support and a full Web browsing experience. Ice Cream Sandwich also features a new People App which lets users browse pictures, messages and social network updates from friends, family and co-workers.
Ice Cream Sandwich also introduces innovations such as Face Unlock, which uses facial recognition to unlock the smartphone. Using NFC technology, Android Beam allows users to quickly share Web pages, apps and YouTube™ videos with friends by simply tapping two phones back-to-back. Users can even use fun effects while shooting video or video chatting with Google Talk™.

Samsung cleverly purchased three whole moths from us. Nice move.

I don’t see Galaxy S. As soon as Cyanogenmod or Darky have a stable 4.0 i’m off the samsung firmware.

before they come with a 4.0 they have to solve 2.3.6 reboot problem
for my sg2

crazy , in belgium we are still blocked to 2.3.3 for I9000 . Do not you think thisis quite outdated for a top gamma phone of 1.5 years ago ?
I hate to not be able to update to the latest available firmware via kies for my phone just because ( I ***ume) proximus ( the belgium’s carrier that exlusively could sell the phone for the first 9 months in Belgium ) does not let/allow us ( the owners of the phone ) to update. or should I blaime proximus ? I did not expecteed that when I spent 549€ for this phone

RobertoSGS, that’s the reason I always buy my phones from Germany.
I’m living in Belgium too.
What I understand they don’t care the updates. They just sell and forget…..

if they do not bring ICS for the i9000 they’re real Ba….. ! I paid a lot of money for a phone that initially lagged like hell and had with Android 2.0 a worse performance than my HTC Magic with 1.5 on 600mhz. Alone for that I expect a proper support for my i9000 !!

I really hope ICS reach SGS1, because I believe if a phone can support it, it should be given an official update, furthermore it is the original Galaxy! The one who opened the new lineage of Galaxy for Samsung!
