The original Galaxy S III isn't getting any update love from Samsung ever since the device reached the end of its 18-month support period, but its international LTE variant, launched a few months later, is surely on the top of Samsung's support list as it has begun getting an update to Android 4.4.4. The update is out for the Galaxy S III LTE in the Nordic region and brings the device's software version up to I9305NXXUFNI4. KitKat for the LTE-enabled Galaxy S III has been a long time coming, so it's good to see Samsung has updated it directly to Android 4.4.4, especially since this will probably be the last update for the device.
The update should include all the standard KitKat features – the Galaxy S III LTE should gain wireless printing support, faster performance and reduced memory consumption, white status bar icons, full-screen lockscreen album art, updated Samsung apps, closed captions support, and general stability improvements. As usual, the update will take its due time before reaching every Galaxy S III LTE out there; advanced users can skip the wait and grab the firmware from our firmware section and upgrade manually, and you can also try to force it show up early by heading into the Settings » About phone » Software update menu and hitting that Check now button.
