Samsung India confirmed at its event today the prices and release date for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge in the country. During the event it also talked about all of the contributions that R&D teams in India have made for the development and design of the company's new flagship devices. The company revealed that its R&D team in Bangalore was particularly helpful in developing the new browser on the Galaxy S6 as well as some of the devices' imaging and multimedia features. It was confirmed during the Q&A session that Samsung is going to start manufacturing the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge in India. The company already manufactures several devices at its factory in Noida, including the Tizen powered Samsung Z1.
Even though both flagship smartphones will soon be manufactured in the country Samsung isn't confirming if this will bring about a drop in the prices. “We plan to stick to these prices for the near future,” says Samsung India, though it did reveal that Galaxy S6 units manufactured in India will be used to meet local demand and will not be exported to other markets.
Samsung is going to release the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge in India on April 10.
