Samsung reportedly sold 6.5m Galaxy S III in Q2, can sell 15m in the next quarter
One of the best things to happen with Galaxy S III is the near-simultaneous launch in major global markets. Launch of the phone in these markets have skyrocketed Galaxy S III sales, according to JP Morgan analysts. Analysts claim Samsung sold a whopping 6.5m units since it went on sale in the latter half of the second quarter.
Analysts also project the phone can sell around 15m units in Q3 2012.
Galaxy S III is the fastest selling phone for Samsung and is expected to pass 10m sales later this month.

We dont care how many you guys sold. We care about how quickly you Follow d google’s new os

It sounds like flamembi should stop purchasing OEM branded devices all together if update is the priority for him

6.5mill ?? And What happened to the 9 million units that were pre-ordered?

i don´t think SIII will reach that 15m mark since their customer service is really sucks…..still no updates for most of the devices…..most of them simply forgotten….and noone is going to buy a new phone every 6 months…..

what hasnt samsung been updating..? my International Galaxy S2 gets regular updates and 4.0.4 android updates are rolling out now.. my GS3 has had 3 official firmware updates since i got it less than a month ago and i suspect jellybean is going to be made available to it at some point? Or are you talking about the US variants? I think those buyers do get a bum deal

they stopped update for my galaxy tab P1000 although its only one and half years old! and although they said there will be updates for 10.1 versions, i think it would be the last one to get! Even your SII will not be getting Jellybean even though it fulfills the hardware requirements. And think of others who own other versions of samsung mobiles….This type of biased policy of samsung will only damage its image. Nexus gets regular updates, but why not samsung? because of their marketing policy? what msg does it give to future consumers? that their device will not probably getting updates after 6 months unless it has some 20m consumers? i don´t think consumers will find it appealing.

i´ve spent a total of 1200€ for those two devices in total and i feel myself stupid for going for samsung products….

Udayejee, you are no more stupid than half the other children bitching about upgrades, correction…you are not stupid your a moron. Consumers are people who buy products not upgrade them, guess what Samsung consumer count is going up, consumers don’t give a damn about upgrades they just want the best phone.
Of course you could always go iPhone were you can upgrade to the latest OS anytime you want all you need to do is buy a new phone.
Samsung are more reliable with upgrades than most other companies, for android you can go nexus if you really want that fast update path for firmware, you just end up being on the slow ride for hardware updates and thats not where most people want to be.

davidf i know through your previous posts that you are the biggest moron in this forum, because you do not understand that my hardware supports all the latest OS. I know there are few people like you with lots of money who just buy every shit in the market without thinking twice. You do not understand the concept of Android phones. Actually you are no more than a samsung version of apple fan boys.

and you are talking about best phones which get no upgrades? plz! still living in some stone-age where mobiles used to have big antennas? wake up kid!

udayjee, you at last got one thing right, I do have shit loads of money(maybe because i’m good at what I do and have survived most of my contemporaries in the very fickle IT industry)
…
thing is I buy technology that suits my needs not becuase its shiny or looks cool. as I said consumers are people that spend money (thats why they are called consumers). Mobile phones have become disposable consumer items courtesy of the contract system, phone contracts drive the mobile market and it seems that upgrading phones is by far more popular than upgrading firmware. The reality is that consumers(and telco’s) are the ones driving the 12 month turnover phone market, with such a rapid hardware turnover just how long do you think manufacturers should support devices ?
So where are my alleged dumb comments, I’m tired of every time there is a news item about samsung, idiots like you bitch about upgrade path of samsung products yet you continue to buy samsung products, only an idiot spends money on a product he doesn’t like.
As far as being a ‘fanboy’ I buy with consideration for the technology and value, not by brand, it just so happens that at the moment Samsung seem to have the edge on everyone else in mobile devices.

not immature only!!! very RUDE!!!

@davidf: may be you work for samsung or something. But what you should never forget is that huge number of Samsung consumers are not dumb. They bought this device because its supposed to be one of the best Android device. therefore the driving force of Samsung products is not its Hardware, but Android OS for the most part!!! And if you work out in which regions are Samsung products mostly sold, it will not take you long to realise the type of customer Samsung has and the expectations they carry. You cut them the updates and make them angry, you will lose them too. If this goes on Samsung faces the same fate of Nokia, it also had brilliant hardware but shitty OS. Mark my words, the driving force is Android and therefore we want regular updates!

I partly agree with udayjee.
IMHO Samsung, and all other companies too (ha, look at LG for a comparison ; ) should support the device fully AT LEAST in the term of the guarantee period, that is, mostly 2 years. After that, it would be a nice bonus.
But I have to disagree as well, since XDA-Devs solve most, if not all of the users’ problems, voila!
And Apple is a kind of a mixed bag, too – they do release the newest iOS for even 3GS, but it’s stripped of most of its functions. Even iPhone 4 is stripped of some! Which is totally hilarious
But since they provide only one year warranty in most markets – which is pathetic, considering the hardware issues, some to be taken into account BEFORE buying (like no memory card while only recording in FullHD – or, of course, the non-exchangeable battery : ), and some less obvious (like how easy it is to crack or even smash the display, or the dropping network coverage while touching the lower left antenna – STILL the same problem, even on 4S! ; note that’s not all the problems listed..).

@planet: yea without XDA android devices would have been doomed a long time ago. They do solve lots of our problems, and they do it for free. All thanks and respect to them for this dedication for science. But their versions are experimental and come with lots of bugs. On top of that Samsung don´t release full source codes of their devices and therefore the device becomes mosty only half functional. And on top of that, if you use their OS your warranty becomes void. So i guess that is not the real solution to the problem i guess….

XDA work very hard on a quite a big spectrum of mobile OS, like Windows Mobile, Windows Phone, iOS, MeeGo, Maemo, Symbian, and quite a few others, not only Android.
“Their” version are buggy – but mostly only at the start, at the alpha phase. When time passes, most if not all the bugs are squashed. I’m afraid you’re wrong on that one.
They also port a lot of solutions, making it easier to work out.
And it’s hard for Samsung to release the source code for .. hardware. When speaking of software, each Android version does have full source code open, and Samsung bases on that – the only things to work out are the connections and calls for the hardware. It’s no rocket science for XDA, since they manage to get it working earlier or later : )
Also, if you know what you’re doing, even root and cooked ROMs won’t void the warranty.
I think you’re not very familiar with the topic basing on what you’re saying, I can only encourage you to get to know it better, since users only gain from such data : )

@Planet: I have been following XDA since some bunch of guys started incredible CM7 and then after that CM9 project. Its only few weeks earlier that they released for the first time their RC1 version of CM9, after which they have given up on the project. I have watched thier version ported in the devices, and seen the cool features and tools they have installed with the OS. But still their OS, despite working a year long is not bug-free, for instance the one easy to detect is camera doesn´t work properly….i truely appreciate their efforts that they are so dedicated towards technology….But had samsung given a little bit of helping hand to them, i´m sure it would have benefitted all parties….
