iPhones to finally get charging feature Galaxy phones had for years

During the WWDC 2025 developers conference yesterday, Apple revealed a brand-new UI design language—Liquid Glass—for all its platforms. It was the central talking point during the keynote event. While some of the company's features seem to have been inspired by One UI, there is one charging feature that Galaxy phones have had for years, and iPhones will finally have it with iOS 26.

One of the new features that iOS 26 brings to iPhones is battery charging time estimation. It displays how long it will take for the iPhone's battery to get fully charged. It also displays how much time it could take for the phone's battery charge to reach 80% (if it is below 80%). This information is displayed on the lock screen and in the Settings app's Battery section. This feature was first reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman a couple of weeks ago.

This feature has been available on Galaxy phones and tablets for years. The estimated battery charging time is displayed on Galaxy devices on the lock screen and in the Settings app's Battery section. Besides this feature, Samsung displays an estimation of how long the phone will likely last based on your usage pattern and the current charge levels. It also offers a Power Saving mode and multiple battery health protection options.

Similar to Samsung's Adaptive Protection feature, iPhones already have the Optimized Battery Charging option that you can enable and set battery charging limits to 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, and 100%. iOS 26 will allow compatible iPhones to display the current battery consumption and compare it to figures from the previous day.

iOS 26 also brings an Adaptive Power mode toggle. It checks your current smartphone usage and automatically makes small performance adjustments to make the phone consume less power. This feature helps the iPhone last longer if you've been using it relatively more than your general usage. It isn't clear if all these battery and charging features will be available to all iPhone models that are iOS 26-compatible.
