We've already reported that Samsung is working on various affordable smartphones. It was revealed last week that the company is working on the Galaxy A12s (SM-A127F) and that it will be available in two variants. Now, information regarding this upcoming smartphone's processor has been revealed.

According to a new report, the Galaxy A12s will come equipped with Samsung's own Exynos 850 processor. This chipset is made using the South Korean firm's 8nm process. The Exynos 850, which was unveiled last year, features an octa-core Cortex-A55 CPU clocked at 2GHz, the ARM Mali-G52 MP1 GPU, LPDDR4X RAM, and an integrated 4G LTE modem with download speeds of up to 300Mbps.

Compared to the Galaxy A12's MediaTek Helio P35 processor, the Exynos 850 should offer a nice bump in performance in both CPU and GPU-intensive tasks. We can hope to get a Super AMOLED display instead of an LCD one and it could feature a slightly improved design. Other features such as a 48MP quad-camera setup, an 8MP or better selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery are expected to be seen.

The smartphone could soon make its debut as it is currently in the process of receiving required certifications around the world. It could be launched with a price tag of lower than $150, similar to the Galaxy A12.
