    Galaxy S4 I9505 - FAIL! (Auth)

    Hi all,

I'm trying to flash my S4 I9505 back to stock rom, but get the FAIL! (Auth) error in Odin.

    Background:
Somehow someone flashed an I9515L rom into my device and it turned really unstable, so I'm trying to get back to the original. I don't have the version id of what I had before, so I tried a couple roms for I9505 in my country region.

    Version:
    Odin v3.12
    Tried I9505VJSHQA1 and I9505VJUGNI2

Device has been restored to factory and is running I9515L

I'm new to all this so all help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Can we go back a step?
Can you use the phone IMEI to confirm the model version?
    Dial *#06# for IMEI.

Now put it into this site:

Running the command gives: "null / null"

Taking the number from the sticker and running it in both sites shows it's 'clean'

Did it give a model version?

It looks like I9505 is not the correct firmware as installing it has corrupted your imei.
If it was running on i9515L firmware then this is the version you should install.

    Yes:
    imeipro: Galaxy S4 I9505
    sndeep: Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-i9505)

Btw, the screen has also been changed. Don't know if that's relevant (it shouldn't be, I guess?)

I haven't installed I9505, it was I9505 before and then it got replaced with I9515L. When I tried flashing I9505 back, it failed with the Auth error. Also I think I ran that command before I tried flashing the rom back and it returned the same thing.

So going by the info so far, it sounds more likely that when I9515L was flashed in, it corrupted the original I9505 IMEI.
    Is that reasonable?

It depends if anything else was changed.
The modem is the important thing here as it will define which furmware to install.

I do not understand how i9515L firmware was installed if it is an i9505.
The i9515L firmware would not install on an i9505 phone.

    Try returning to i9515L firmware.

    It is I9515L right now.
    It wasn't I9515L before, it was I9505.

I'm not sure what is going on, but I can say that those are the versions that were displayed in boot-up and Settings.

Only the screen and anything attached to the board it is mounted on was changed.
