You are going to have trouble with doing anything if you cannot follow instructions.

    1. Go to post #1 in this thread.
    2. Go to Part 3 of the post.

    Here it says quite clearly:
Update from NJ5/NJ4 (4.4.4) to OC3 (5.0.1) by stock recovery

    This is your starting point.

So why do I have to do all this instead of the following:

    1. Download stock Lollipop 5.0.1
    2. Flash phone to stock Lollipop 5.0.1 using Odin

Also, is the Pit file used differently than the other files?

Also, that isn't Lollipop. That's KitKat

If I follow this process, my unlocked AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 will remain unlocked, or it will become locked?
And these updates will work with any baseband versions?

That would be correct according to the instructions:
.(if you are already on 4.4.2 you don't need this step. Go straight to part 2)

    Thanks.
First, it didn't work, so I've downgraded to previous build 4.2.2 which is given here and then followed the instructions and using lollipop now without any problem. Thanks for making this Guide.
