Let Kies reinstall your PC drivers.

If still not working then install the Vodafone VD2 firmware with Odin.

If this Info somehow helps in Download Mode it showed me:

    ODIN Mode
    PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9305
    CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
    CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
    SYSTEM STATUS: Official
    Secure Download: Enabled
    KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0
    RP SWAREV: A3

There was never a custom Firmware on this Device and the Boot Loop
appeared over night when i had pluged in my Phone for charging.

Hi, I'm having a similar issue and seem to have no luck with my GT-I9300

    Quick sum of the issue:
About a year ago I did flash a custom room on the device to have android 6.1, i think I put the cyanogenmod 13 with twrp recovery and it was working like a charm, then I bought a Oneplus 2 and abandoned the galaxy S3.
A couple of weeks ago I move flat and found the S3, tried to turn it on after charging the battery but I faced the white-with-grey-lines screen, no possibility of recovery mode nor download mode; I bought a jig usb and when I plug it into the device I can get into the download mode with this output:

    FACTORY MODE
    PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
    CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
    CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
    SYSTEM STATUS: Custom

I've tried with different versions of Odin, different cables, different USB ports, different laptops running different versions of Windows (XP, 7, 8.1) but I get always to the same point:

    - If I put either one archive .tar in the PDA field or the 3 files (PDA,Phone, CSC) I get the error that there is no PIT file
    - If I put the above + the pit file, Odin get stuck at "Get PIT for mapping" for ages, until I disconnect the phone.

I've been reading on different forums, tried different PIT files and also downloaded the version for my GT-I9300 16GB No brand Italian phone at

    but still had no success.
I thought the problem is the EMMC chip, but reading in several forums, loads of people are saying that if the field "PRODUCT NAME" shows the name of the device, then it can be repaired without changing chip or motherboard...

The only thing I'm not so sure about is the "FACTORY MODE" instead of "ODIN MODE", probably because the device is forced in download mode by the jig usb, but cannot be 100% sure.

Ah, I tried also with Kies, but it doesn't recognize the phone and when I try the upgrade firmware procedure, it starts to download the firmware after putting model and S/N, but then it fails when it has to install it into the phone, saying that it cannot connect to the device.

Anyone has been able to fix this issue?

See if you can find the original firmware to install either with Odin or directly with Kies.

Do make sure the phone is charged.
After leaving so long I would remove battery for an hour, then charging overnight with phone off to get at least 50%.

While waiting, see if Kies will give your phone latest original firmware as described here:
