    Sorry for the late reply, but for clarification, in download mode the status is official, but in settings its modified. (this is after restoring the backup). I haven't done a reinstall from kies, but thanks for the steps to return to stock status. I'm happily running CM11. No overheating issues and snappy. If the 4.3 update comes out, i'll use triangle away then flash to stock. If I don't like it, back to CM11 for me . By the way, does the update for the I9300 have KNOX bootloader?

    OK. Main thing is that your phone is up and working.

    You are mixing up 2 new 'improvements' to the Samsung firmware.

    Stock 4.3 (onwards) brings in Knox.
    Think of this like a household electrical fuse - put in a wrongly wired appliance and the fuse trips.

    Until you reset you cannot install another Knox enabled firmware - so, no stock updates.

    4.4.2 (onwards) have a locked bootloader that will prevent the downgrading of firmware - so no going back.
