New Galaxy Fold video hides nothing, not even the display crease

Samsung has been very careful in what it has shown so far for the Galaxy Fold. Even though the handset was unveiled on February 20 alongside the Galaxy S10, it did not allow members of the press to go hands-on with the device. The Galaxy Fold was present at MWC 2019 as well but it was kept securely in a glass box with strategic lighting placement.

The company has released some videos detailing the device in addition to the official renders. They have all shown the foldable smartphone in the best possible way as you'd expect. Now, a new Galaxy Fold video has surfaced online and it hides nothing, certainly not the display crease.

Galaxy Fold video shows Samsung's foldable phone in detail

This video seemingly originates from Vietnam where a lot of Samsung's R&D work takes place. Vietnam is also one of the countries where Samsung manufactures a lot of its phones, flagships included. It's entirely possible for a unit to be out in the wild there even if the Galaxy Fold isn't being manufactured in Vietnam.

The device in question is the AT&T-bound variant of the Galaxy Fold. You can see it booting up in the video. There's a noticeable crease in the center of the display right where it folds in half. A foldable display is obviously going to have a crease and this is really the first time that we're getting a good, unfiltered look at it.

It does close with a reassuring snap which suggests that the hinge really does provide significant rigidity as Samsung has said. The cover display gets its time in the spotlight as well. It enables using the device without having to open the main display every time. You also get a good sense of just how big the internal display will feel when you're actually using the device. This is certainly going to make Samsung fans more excited to get their hands on one.

Samsung is due to release the Galaxy Fold on April 26. The United States and South Korea will likely be the first markets that get it. The company has said that the device will be released in other markets as well.

    Thanks, Ryan!
