It was confirmed not too long after the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were unveiled that both flagships would be compatible with Google's Daydream VR platform. However, Galaxy S8 owners had to wait for a very long time to receive the software update that brought support for Daydream. The update enabling Daydream support on the 2017 flagships was finally rolled out last month.

Those who own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ can now install all of the Daydream apps from the Google Play Store. The primary Daydream app works on these handsets as well so users can take full advantage of Google's new VR platform.

Samsung didn't clarify during its August 23 event for the Galaxy Note 8 if the new flagship is compatible with Daydream. Many would have reasonably expected it to support Daydream. The company has confirmed that its new flagship supports Daydream.

Fortunately, Galaxy Note 8 owners will not have to wait for a couple of months to get Daydream support. A spokesman for the company confirmed to NieuweMobiel that the Galaxy Note 8 is going to support Daydream at launch.

So when customers start receiving their Galaxy Note 8 units on September 15, they can simply pop it into a Daydream-compatible headset and dive right in.
