Samsung is opening a VR movie studio in New York

Samsung has already established a name for itself in the VR market with the Gear VR headset, it’s an affordable virtual reality solution for anybody who owns a compatible Samsung smartphone, and millions do. It has been working hard to bring new and exciting VR experiences for the Gear VR but it’s not stopping there, the company has confirmed that it’s setting up its own virtual reality movie studio in New York where it will create immersive new VR experiences.

Marc Mathieu, chief marketing officer at Samsung USA, revealed this during his talk at the Sundance film festival in Park City, Utah. Virtual reality has emerged as a prominent theme at the film festival and it’s natural for Samsung to want to be a part of the action. Details about the studio are slim at this point but Mathieu did say that this studio will be housed in an existing Samsung office where a marketing team is already working. Samsung also announced a year-long partnership with the Sundance Institute at the festival, the purpose for this partnership is to nurture filmmaking and creative talent.

I can really see Robert Redford getting into Samsung’s Gear VR Experience. This is a great partnership and keeps Samsung on the very cutting edge of creativity in Virtual Reality field!!!

Much to the dismay of Palmer Luckey’s lame ignorant claim that Gear VR won’t ever have full positional tracking. Fact is many 3rd parties have been getting Positional Tracking working on Gear VR than the PC Computer hard wire tethered 3D VR HMD’s!!!

I am very annoyed with Samsung for removing compatibility for the Note 4 from the consumer variant of the gear vr. There is absolutely no technical reason to do so, they simply decided to shaft their existing user base as usual. What exactly have they got against the Note 4 that they are so desperate to try and sweep its existence under the rug? the fact it is a better phone than its followup?

I have a Note 4 and am using the Gear VR Innovator edition with it.
Trust me the innovator edition is better than the consumer version in several ways, as Samsung did cut some things to reduce the price to 99$ in the consumer version.

Better get the Innovator Edition as long as stock is still available as it is not in production anymore.
