Previously Samsung used to make this feature exclusive to the “Active” variants of the flagship for customers who were looking for proper water resistance in a smartphone but it didn't do that for the Galaxy S5 since it was already capable of that.
If a report out of Korea is to be believed then Samsung might be going back to its old practice. It is claimed that neither the Galaxy S6 nor the Galaxy S6 Edge will be waterproof.
Instead Samsung is going to release a Galaxy S6 Active variant which will exclusively have this ability. It remains to be seen though if this variant is launched alongside the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, or if it'll make an appearance at some point later this year.
