Galaxy S5 and Note 4 to sport improved Air View, Air Gesture and Pen Recognition features
According to a report published by ETNews, Synaptics has once again been chosen by Samsung to provide the touch controller for the screens on the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 that will be coming out this year. Synaptics has reportedly made some strides in its improving its touch solution with better hovering detection that made features like Air View possible on the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 last year, which will result in allowing users to use Air View and Air Gestures by hovering their fingers above the screen at a greater distance than previously possible.
Synaptics has also enhanced its stylus pen functionality, with the touchscreen panel now able to recognize a pen point measuring as low as 2.5 pi, which will allow even more elaborate and precise handwriting using the stylus on Samsung’s next Galaxy Note flagship. The touch chip maker has also managed to lower manufacturing costs, thanks to a new printing technology which allows a single layer structure that doesn’t require an insulation layer or a bridge.
While reports like these are always best taken with a grain of salt, Samsung’s gesture features have been improving at a steady pace since the company started implementing them in its smartphones, so it’s possible the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 could offer an even greater experience with such gesture-based add-on features.Join the Discussion
