UL certifies Samsung’s Full HD AMOLED Display

Samsung’s other technology has earned the Underwriters Laboratories’ certification. The American agency has certified Samsung’s 4.99-inch full HD AMOLED display used in the Galaxy S4 for its picture quality. The Samsung display boasts one of the best colour reproduction on a mobile display and features the broadest colour gamut of up to 97% for the Adobe RGB colour space which is touted to be 30 percent broader than the generals RGB standard.

Additionally, the display features better legibility under sunlight, Diamond Pixel structure, improved contrast ratio and lots more.

Samsung expects to sell more AMOLED displays this year. Samsung’s next big Full HD AMOLED display is target for the Galaxy Note III which will be announced at IFA 2013 in Berlin. Samsung already build a new OLED factory for their future AMOLED technology.

Here’s what Samsung needs to improve on it’s AMOLED display.

- more brightness, becoming closer to LCD’s screen brightness
- less saturated colours, more natural-like colours
- higher ppi (pixels per inch)
- life span
- energy efficiency – low power consumptiop
- updates on display mode

I think they can leave the super saturated colors. It makes images on the screen pop. Definitely think its one of the most defining factors of AMOLED displays. And for people who dislike that look, they include different screen modes on their devices like the S4.
