On 24th August 2012, Apple scored a big win over Samsung in court. Samsung paid Apple a large amount of $1 Billion due to patent infringements. Apple's all targeted device were old Samsung devices, most of them are not even being manufactured anymore as they have gotten old in technology and their newer successors have arrived but the Galaxy S II is still being sold in stores and is a big hit. So, the lawsuits by Apple was not much of a problem for the current Samsung devices, until now.

Even after winning Apple is still on war with Samsung. Previously, Apple's hitlist only contained 21 devices but now the number have increased to 25. Apple recently added the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to their hitlist. This could be a major hit to Samsung as these devices are very recent, highly successful and selling very well.  Apple had originally gone after the Galaxy S III back in June, when it tried to have US sales of the device stopped before it was even launched. Judge Lucy Koh didn't comply due to scheduling issues.

    Apple's list of allegedly-infringing devices:

    • Samsung Galaxy S III
    • Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon)
