No plans for Value Pack or Android 4.0 for Galaxy S

Bad new for all Samsung Galaxy S owners.
A spokespersoon at Samsung told us threre will be no update or ‘Value Pack’ for the Samsung Galaxy S.
Samsung told a couple of weeks ago they cannot update because of hardware problems.

Many people get angry on that and they open a online petition page.
Because there are too many people angry on Samsung, they told we will check again.
A week after is the result still bad.

No Android 4.0 or ”Value Pack” updates!

After seeing these phones from ViewSonic

http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/24/viewsonic-viewphone-4s-4e-5e/

It figures IMPOSSIBLE to believe that there is no way for an update for Galaxy S and other Galaxies…

One of the phones has ONLY 650Mhz and the “best” one has 1GHz…. With all the hardware inside i9000. The only thing I can think is that Samsung simply doesn’t want to update.

Samsung could say: “We don’t want to upgrade the OS in these phones. And that’s all.”

Everybody’s acting like ICS is some kind of miracle and like its mindblowing and way better than gingerbread and if they don’t get it it’s like the end of the world and Samsung sucks. Well, you’re wrong – I’ve been using Teamhacksung’s ICS (CM9) for more than a month now and I’ve compared it to my friends’ phones (Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S with official ICS) and there isn’t a big difference in performance. Also, Google still hasn’t fixed the issues it has with ICS on Galaxy Nexus and everybody wants it completely working on their 2-year old phone –… Read more »

This is a suicide of SAMSUNG. If you not support old phone, you’re killing yourself.

This is the BIG FAILED and the BIG MISTAKE of this company,

I want to tell that people can talk that this company don’t care the old customers.

And then, this company will LOSE and LOSE

(I’ve bought Galaxy S Plus a week before i heard this news, Then I said “What the hell I have bought?”)

And I will told this to everyone that gonna buy a new phone.

Thank you for this SHAME decision of SAMSUNG Company. That let’s know how selfish of THIS KOREAN PHONE COMPANY.

hmmm several things running in my mind “these ideology also happens on Apple. Remember the 1st and 2nd generation iphones?” does samsung know what OS tweaks will Google do on ICS? No. Samsung wouldn’t know as that development is part of “closed system” of Android. so it would be close to impossible for them to say “hey that wouldn’t run on my XXX phone, better change it” I mourn with those who uses tab and S, but let’s face it. This is the time where the transition happens (converging a future devices with past devices with a future software). And… Read more »

Who cares about ICS? This is beta software. Samsung needed 3/4 of a year to get a well running 2.3.x version (2.3.6 in fact) stock rom. I don’t have any interest to switch to a buggy 4.x beta software at the moment. Even if Samsung decides to build one ICS version for the SGS, there won’t be many further 4.x updates but they will be needed for a well running version. There are many millions of phones out there that will never get a 4.x Android version so for a very long time, so apps have to support 2.3.x as… Read more »

Samsung will feel this decision on their sale. I switch from sony ericsson to samsung only because of updates. There is a long list of devices like i9000. I’m curious what reason they will get other devices.
How samsung will react when ICS for i9100 will be ported to i9000… I’m very curious…
They should consider posting i9000 ICS without touchwiz or helping the community.

Samsung has forgotten that they exist because people want this, not other way around…

I have 3 Galaxy S phones and 2 Galaxy S2’s I love them all I am running MIUI on them all. I just don’t know what all the fuss is about. I have tried ICS on the Galaxy S and to tell you the truth I don’t like it I don’t like it at all. Maybe when the S3 comes out I will dive into ICS. But for now give me MIUI running Go Launcher. Couldn’t be happier!

Yap, defenitely we have to buy an Iphone or a google phone.
Samsung is saying his customers “If you want an update phone with ICS buy SGS2” so guess what samung this was the last phone I buyed form you.

Ok, TouchWiz it’s not compatible with ICS. But what would be the problem if update not include TouchWiz? no one cares about it.

Oh, let me guess you would not sell more SGS2 and fill your pockets. This is the real problem it’s always about money.

“That’s why I like Apple, they treat their customer equally all over the world” I beg your pardon? Apple screwed me by not allowing me to receive ANY iOS update in Iran. So treat customer equally all over the world sentence is COMPLETELY flawed, because I just told an example for you. “Besides they will improve their screen size soon and their Siri iz by far the best and aandroid is still struggling with lagging keyboard and bugs” I will accept when I see,Siri is just a gimmick,AND my iOS device lags badly after jailbreaking it,without jailbreak iOS is just a… Read more »

There is nothing to be sure about Samsung. It’s just the same policy as with their bada phones. First they declared an update to bada 2.0 in Q4 2011, the officially denied it, postponed it for march and april, to finally release it on 31 december 2011 (officially giving the wave users the latest test version actually). They’re just changing mind everyday, so anything yet can happen.

it’s all about money. they want to sell new devices like sg2 or galaxy nexus. Xperia arc is going to have an upgrade to ics and it is identical with sgs and arc s is identical with sgs+. So it supports.

Yeah I agree. Nexus’s spec is lower than SGS2. Why buy it? If this updates crap continues I am going back to iOS for sure. So much for open source…Google and Samsung don’t know what they are doing. What are they diung? So updates everything!! The freaking spastic Android is an open source and we know machines can take them. Two more months and I am going Apple. Besides they will improve their screen size soon and their Siri iz by far the best and aandroid is still struggling with lagging keyboard and bugs.

Samsung is useless….They don’t provide timely updates to old models so that they can sell new launched new phone with updated OS….
They have been always been ignoring existing customer and searching for new customer ….
Bt one fine day they are going to realize how full they are….as no one will buy their products bcaz of this ****…..

That’s why I like Apple, they treat their customer equally all over the world 🙂
