    Hello Experts,
I'm from Bangladesh and bought SGS2 GT-I9100 from UK which is 3 network branded. Last april, 2012 I updated to Official ICS 4.0.3 via KIES from Bangladesh. That time KIES recognized the update but since the latest update released in last june,2012 KIES till saying that no updates found.
I want to flash through oddin. But I'm confused to select the appropriate firmware for my phone. So, definitely I need yours Help. I will be very great to you guys.

    I checked SAMFIT and found

    Year: 2012
    Month: Major Release
    Country: United Kingdom (H3G)
Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

Then I checked, Checker and found
    Latest firmware info
    PDA: I9100XWLP7
    CSC: I9100H3GLP3
    Modified: 2012-04-09
    Download: here

Didn't found the latest firmware for mine, according to these 2 checks.
Please advice me what to do. I will be great full to you guys. Thanks.

If your phone is unlocked then you can install any S2 firmware you like via Odin.

    Thank you very much Mr.greenman

Hope you are well by the grace of Almighty. I am not very much expert about flashing with oddin and also about android firmwares. I read many post and articles about bricking devices of SGS2 of various users of different places of different users and found they flashed with a wrong firmware for their SGS2. Experts suggest them how to recover it and which firmware to install.

Please can you suggest me a firmware and link to download so that I can go through the flashing process via oddin.
I'm very happy to get quick reply from you. Thanks a lot.

Here's a list of things to do to make sure you choose the correct firmware.
    1. Dial *#1234# on your stock phone dialler to get your current firmware.
    2. Find this firmware in sammobile.com
If it is a network linked firmware and your phone is locked to the network, you may be restricted to their updates.
    3. Check if your phone is unlocked by dialling *#7465625# = Check the phone lock status*

If locked you can unlock it for free using an app from the Play Store.
To do this you will have to root your phone, and return to Gingerbread for the app to work.

I wrote this guide to help:

If your phone is not locked then you can choose any firmware from the I9100 list in sammobile.com
You are looking to find the best match to where you live (so it has your first language on the display)
Secondly, to match your network. So either a specific firmware - like Vodafone or an Open Firmware.
I would choose an Open firmware as your phone will be unbranded.
Download the firmware you choose to your computer, and unzip once to your desktop.
You then need to flash the firmware using Odin.
To learn how to do this, and to install Odin on your computer, watch this video on the cnet link:

    hello,
Mr. green after reading the procedures I just rooted my SGS2 successfully. I checked with market apps and result is rooted and also the yellow mark at the start of every restart. Thanks a lot. Without your support I will not be able to do these steps without fear. When you instructed I go through. The result came out without any hassle. Thanks and many many thanks again.

If you get free time please select a ROM for me. I do not need the first language display of my country. If English is supported than it will be alright. Because in operating phones or computers I'm not used to with our country language (Bangla). I understand English well.
Hope and Pray to be well with your family members. Thanks.

Here is a method of rooting without leaving a yellow triangle:
    How to Root your S2
Note file names have been shortened via Google.
    1. Download to your computer this file: [ Login above or register to see download links. ]
    2. Download to your computer this file: [ Login above or register to see download links. ]
    3. Connect phone by usb to computer and copy files in 1 & 2 to 'card' - make sure you do not put them in any folder.
    4. Reboot phone into Recovery Mode (Press and hold Volume up + Home button + Power button until in Green android and blue writing of Recovery Screen)
    5. Use volume button to choose 'apply update from external storage' and press power button to action.
    6. Use volume to select 'recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.1.5-galaxyS2.zip' and power button to action.
    7. The screen is now in ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.1.5 (this is referred to as CWM) and you can now touch the screen to select.
    8. Select and touch 'install zip from sd card'
    9. Select and touch 'choose zip from sd card'
    10. Look for 'SU-Busybox-Installer.zip' if you can't find it ****Go Back**** and 'choose zip from internal sd card'
    11. Select and touch.
    12. ****Go Back**** to 'reboot system now.
    13. That's it you are rooted - to check, look in your applications and you should now have 'Super User'

As your phone is unlocked then why not install the most recent Open Europe firmware (I did it yesterday)
Note: This is a 3 file Odin flash so put modem in phone box, csc in csc and code in pda

    Hello Mr.greenman

Hope you are well. According to your instruction I downloaded the firmware from sammobile link to hotfile and flashed my phone via oddin and installed ics 4.0.4. But when I root it my camera is showing black screen although it can capture both still and video. But screen is black. Is there any solution for this.
    Thanks
