Does anyone know how to flash only the PDA file?

    PROBLEM SOLVED: SEE POST #4

I'm trying to update my B5510. I'm using Odin3 V1.85 to flash. I tried to flash with pit and without the pit file. The problem is that the zip files with the updated firmware for download only contain the PDA file. When I try to flash the PDA file I get an error message.

I've used google to see if there were more people with this problem and I found this thread on XDA: [ Login above or register to see download links. ]

In this tread the problem and message of flashing only the PDA are posted. On post #6 there are a couple of links to download a ZIP which contains all the necessairy files to flash an update. This means that not only the PDA but also the BOOT/MODEM/CSC are present.

The flash went smooth. I've managed to flash:
    Code:
    PDA_B5510DXKK1_REV03.tar.md5
    using:
    BOOT_B5510DXKK2_REV03.tar.md5
    GT-B5510-MULTI-CSC-OLBKK1.tar.md5
    MODEM_B5510DXKK2_REV03.tar.md5
    luisa_0623.pit
My problem is that the PDA-file is for the Philippines. So the available lanquages are English and some others... but no Dutch or other European languages.
    - I've tried to flash again but with another PDA selected, but that gave a flash error. The flashing process didn't start. My guess is that all the files need to be compatible
    - My USB drivers are fine, I've had a succesful flash in the past.

Does anyone know how to flash the single PDA file?
Does anyone know of a version of Odin for B5510 that lets you use the 'single package' option?
Does anyone know where to download the right BOOT/CSC/MODEM files for other (preferably European) firmwares?

    Thanks!

    Hi DannyD,

    Thank you for your reply.
    The readout says:

    Code:
    PDA: B5510DXKK1
    PHONE: B5510DXKK2
    CSC: B5510LBKK1
I hope you have an idea.

EDIT: After some internet searching I came past [ Login above or register to see download links. ] thread. The poster mentioned downloading the seperate files (BOOT/PHONE/CSC) from [ Login above or register to see download links. ]. It's a service with which you have to buy a pricey [ Login above or register to see download links. ]. You can plug the box into your network and USBport. Only with the "z3x"-box you can download the seperate ZIP files which supposed to have all the necessairy files.

I haven't been able to check the full contens of the offered ZIP-files, since I don't have a z3x-box. I do see, via their shell-program, that they already offer a recent build. Namely 'B5510DXLD1_OLBLD1 added 1 weak ago'.

I found a way to flash the single PDA-file.

The trick is to split-up the single file in a MODEM, CSC and PDA file. This can be done with the [ Login above or register to see download links. ]' developed by Dokey73 on XDA.

Download links and instructions are provided in the tread. Simply put for windows users: Install 'cygwin' a linux terminal emulator with some plugins. Place the program 'Splitfus' and the firmware-PDAin the installation dir. Execute the program and you will receive three files you can flash with Odin.

I have done so succesfully with B5510BVLD1_B5510AMNKJ2_B5510BVLD1_HOME.tar.md5. And flashing the three produced files.

I've done this by using the following command for starting Splitfus without parameters:
    Code:
    splitfus2.exe B5510BVLD1_B5510AMNKJ2_B5510BVLD1_HOME.tar.md5
and flashed WITHOUT any pit or BOOT files and didn't select re-partition.
(this is also mentioned in the released readme.txt when you split the PDA file)

    - The first time I received an error message 'can't open file' in cygwin. --> reinstall cygwin and select the plugins for installation that give support for tar/zip/md5
    - Easy way to get things working is to place the Splitfus2.exe in the BIN folder in the installation folder of cygwin. And place the _base folder with userdata.img in the HOME\user folder of the cygwin installation folder. Place your Firmware file in the same HOME\user folder and you're good to go

I have succesfully flashed the splitup:
    Code:
    B5510BVLD1_B5510AMNKJ2_B5510BVLD1_HOME.tar.md5 (Spain - orange)
    B5510CEKK1_B5510KPPKI2_B5510XXKK2_HOME.tar.md5 (Netherlands)
Note for Dutch users. The latest Spain firmware gives an altered layout for the keyboard. Mostly correct, but @ is under a different key and also a few others.

Borrelbar, thanks a lot for your instructions!

I split B5510CEKK1_B5510KPPKI2_B5510XXKK2_HOME.tar.md5 with Splitfus2 and then flashed the resulting 3 files (PDA, Phone and CSC) with Odin 1.85.
And now my B5510 is working again, without all the previous T-Mobile bloatware it originally came with

Also, if you want CWM, try the 3rd option from this post: [ Login above or register to see download links. ]
    It works flawlessly for me.
UPDATE: As is actually stated in the xda-thread, this is a temporary CWM. It disappears after a reboot, then you'll have stock recovery again.

You're welcome, glad I could help. Thank you for the confirmation on CWM.

EDIT: I have uploaded different firmwarepackages to Rapidshare that are split-up by Splitfus2. These packages are ready to flash.
